Core Process Psychotherapy
Core
Process Psychotherapy is a psychospiritual approach to therapy for people of all
faiths and none. Based on a profound tradition of awakening, it integrates
Buddhist psychology and mindfulness practices with western psychotherapeutic
skills.
The benefits of mindfulness are now widely accepted in clinical settings within
and outside the NHS. Evidence has shown how in psychotherapy and counselling
mindfulness can help, for example, in reducing the anxiety and depression
associated with physical illness and other life challenges. It's no accident
that mindfulness, which is simply a particular way of paying attention,
originated in Buddhism. The emphasis is on relieving suffering through bringing
awareness and compassion to how we are in the present moment.
Unconsciously, in each moment we tend to hold onto how we have always been. We
tend to repeat patterns, attitudes, tendencies and ways of relating as we meet
and respond to situations, people, and ideas. In each moment we usually hold
onto and express fixed ways of being in our bodies, hearts and minds,
restricting and closing the space that might help us to move through life with
some ease, self-acceptance and feelings of well-being.
In present-moment activity our qualities and potential to live more freely are
always there but can be obscured by these constantly cycling energies and
habitual ways of being and relating, especially in times of difficulty and
crisis. Therapy offers a quiet space to slow down and give attention to arising
thoughts, feelings, physical symptoms, parts of ourselves that may feel painful,
lost, numb, addicted, fragmented, traumatised or disconnected. We attend to how
we are at this moment in time as openly and kindly as we can, without judgement
or interpretation.
The particular form of the therapy relationship - within which I work according
to professional ethics and good practice as well as a negotiated contractual
agreement with each client - offers you an opportunity to take time out to
explore what’s happening in your life in a confidential, impartial and
compassionate environment. Even in the short term, small shifts in how we see
things may be possible. Over time, the benefits may be felt as a sense of
expanded identity, reconnection to our deeper nature, feelings of well-being,
releasing creativity and the possibility of greater vitality and meaning in
everyday living.
I offer an initial free introductory meeting in which you can find out more
about how I work and ask questions about my experience and qualifications and
for you to get an idea of whether Core Process work might suit you. It's an
opportunity for us both to gather information and to consider working together.
For more information on fees, sessions, and anything else you would like to ask
or discuss please phone 07986 514973 or use the contact
page to send a short message and I will reply as soon as I can.
